Baramulla, Nov 8, CNS: The Kalgai Cricket Premier League organized by the Army at Kalgai Village in Uri culminated with Jabla Eleven emerging as champions.
“The aim of Kalgai Premier League was to promote spirit of sports among the youth of Kashmir living in border villages besides a bid to provide them a platform to display their sporting talent and skills,” Army spokesperson said in a statement to news agency CNS.
“In a nail biting finish, Jabla Eleven defeated Sarai Eleven by 4 runs, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats. The excitement and thrill soared high all throughout the final match. Both Winners and Runners up were awarded with a Trophy along with cash awards.”
“Twenty four teams from the border villages participated in this event which had started on October 23. Young cricketers from border villages of Uri, Jabla, Param Pillan, Salamabad ,Sarai, Isham ,Chakra, Sultan Dhaki, Kalgai , Urusha, Dardkot and Namala competed with each other displaying their dynamic talent. The event was witnessed by a large crowd of spectators from these villages who encouraged the players and appreciated the initiative by the Army to promote the local talent.” (CNS)
